Hi there all!
I finally dived into Enhanced Plots (Magic Sheets) to create Show layouts. Most of my shows rely on a basic show containing Spots, Washes, Beams, Strobes and LED fixtures. With Replicate Fixtures and Change Type there is little need of extra programming. It's more setting up the right looks for the right moment and i was thinking how can you create a showfile where you can create this looks on the fly.
All the basic attributes are programmed into Cuelists like Strobes, Colors, Positions, Gobo and Rotation, Zoom, Prism and Rotation. From the Enhanced Plots i can trigger Scene's en Cuelists but not specific cues.
From the Scenes i can trigger everything using Comment Macro's. This also includes custom MIDI notes or OSC commands.
Now if i want to build a Default Enhanced Plot for my Basic show file i need Scenes in between Cuelists/Cues and the Plot items.
I was thinking it would be nice if you can add blocks to the Enhanced Plot which can trigger specific Cuelists/Cues like if you were doing a GoTo. This block should have an indicator that it is active and triggered so you know on which cue you are.
This example was built with scenes so you can see which scene was last triggered. If there is an option for the blocks in the Plot to set them to 'GoTo' or to 'Load' you can decide if a block activates immediately [GoTo] or you can select several blocks [Load] and give them a Go with an assigned Go-button.
This way you can create a stack and go way of working for the times nobody knows what is going to happen or for that busking shows with no preparation time.
The other thing i was thinking about is the possibility to turn off the labels for each Plot Item and scale the font-size. In the picture below you can see that a lot of space of a block is occupied with information i don't need. When also the Blue Acive bar shows there is information pushed away i need more the the Label which Scene number it is.
I know this way of programming is more the way you program E2 and S3 but i think it will save a lot of time. Also when the director during rehearsels decided the next Cue/Look is Purple/Green but now wants it Purple/Orange you can make this adjustment when 'Loading' the next look.
How's everybody thinking of this and would this be something what saves a lot of programming?
