Looking for free visualizer software for a novice to get started.

I am a volunteer for a theater group that uses the PC v4 version, and am a novice to using professional lighting software. Because they are now trying to tour the show, the lighting equipment is currently in a trailer that is out of state. They do not own a visualizer program.

ETC Support emailed me instructions about linking to a visualizer, but that was not a free program. I found a posting on another forum that said there is a utility that works with Blender as a visualizer. But, I have no experience with Blender and have read that it is not an easy program to learn.

Is there any other visualizer that works with Hog PC v4?

I wish ETC would offer a package to help us novices get started.  I even have a cheap DMX interface, and a couple of lights. If their software would permit perhaps 16 channels for free, that should be enough to prevent it being used professionally. Or alternatively, a software package that included a free visualizer that gets installed automatically. And even if that had a limited number of DMX channels, that would help me get started.

  • Hello,

Sorry for any inconvenience.  If you download the zip folder and extract the files, there is an exe file that launches the Capture presentation.  If you still can't get it to launch, you can call support for assistance.  As mentioned here, CITP isn't working for PC-to-PC on v5.2 right now.  You would need to run Hog v4.3 or one of the Beta versions.
