One thing I’ve noticed while working with the current Hog layout is that the U buttons (U1–U4) could be extremely useful during programming and playback, but their current placement makes them a little harder to access quickly.
Right now they sit between rows of other buttons, which makes them slightly less ergonomic during fast programming or live busking.
Since these buttons can be mapped for macros or other custom functions, they could serve as very useful additional quick-access controls if they were easier to reach.
For future hardware revisions or like EOS has done in the past with their button updates, it might be worth considering:
1. Moving the U buttons down one row (swapping the Effect, Time, Group, Fixture)
2. Placing them along the top row for clearer access, or otherwise separating them so they aren’t sandwiched between other keys
This would make them easier to hit quickly during live programming and could effectively turn them into very handy macro / CMD-style buttons for programmers.
I realize hardware layouts are difficult to change once a console is released, but it might be something worth considering and possibly doing a community vote. The new placement of the Kind/CMD really made me question if the console was still a Busking/Concert console or if it moving more towards Theatre Cueing as it removed the natural ergonomics of the hand.
