It would really speed up the workflow i we can assign KIND keys to User keys. This makes U1-4 really usefull for special kinds.
If this also gives the idea to have CMDs under U as well.
For example: Be able to switch views, quick select groups, have a scene with the houselights always on your fingertips.
This will make the U keys more focused on your personal workflow without demanding to change the way you use the CMD/KIND keys.
