It would be nice if we could reorder or organize the fixture order. Specifically, the order fixtures are presented in the Patch, Cue Edit, Output, and Programmer windows (or really any place fixtures are presented)
I think the fixtures in the show are currently presented/sorted alphabetically by fixture type name. Sorting by fixture name is kind of arbitrary, and all the different types or functions of fixtures are in an order that makes little sense when sorted alphabetically.
I would love the ability to reorder this. Often, I program media servers. I find looking at specific values in edit cue windows, programmer windows or output windows is a frequent task. I find myself scrolling a bunch to get to the fixtures I need to look at often. Even when looking for other types of fixtures, it can be hard to scroll and find what you need. Fixtures are not always named logically. A Martin Mac viper (we typically think of/refer to as a viper is actually named Mac Viper, for example. Scroll to V or M, that is the question.
It would be helpful to group fixtures by type (washes, beams, profiles, FX, etc..).
A couple of options would be cool
1) Sort Alphabetical (current)
2) Sort by Fixture Number. This kind of works now, but it does not actually sort by number. It sorts by number alphabetically. So 201 comes after 10001 (2 is after 1 in alphabetical sort). Also, when sorting by number, fixture type is not grouped. So weird things happen like:
1001
1002
101
102
103...
2
201
202
203..
3
301
302
302...
The net result of sort by number is every just gets jumbled up.
3) Manual Sort (allow us to drag the fixture type tiles around in the fixture type jump bar of each window) and sort in that order.
The fixtures would then be presented top to bottom in the windows in the order specified.
Thanks for considering this improvement.
