  • It sounds like something is horribly wrong with file associations your PC, you're not running Windows, or the file has had its extension changed.

The Expression Offline Editor download is a .ZIP file containing a Windows executable application.

It should be possible to unzip the executable file (.EXE) into any folder and run it as an application.

If your computer is trying to run iTunes, this means that the file extension is associated with iTunes and not with Windows/Executable/Application.

    1. Ensure that you are running Windows 98 or newer Microsoft Windows operating systems.
    2. Extract the EXE file from the ZIP file you downloaded - this is not done via iTunes.
      • Windows XP has built-in ZIP handlers, but installing software like WinZIP breaks this functionality.
    3. Run the executable. This is an installer program, and again is not done via iTunes.
If iTunes opens at any stage in this process, your Microsoft Windows file associations are broken. Unfortunately repairing these is beyond the scope of this forum!

  • i'm working on a mac power pc G3 running OS X 10.3.9
as soon as the download un-zips, it turns into an itunes document. is there any other step i should take to work around that?
    i'll look into winzip.

    thanks
  • Expression Offline is a PC program that only runs under Windows XP, 2000, Vista or 98. It will not run on a PowerPC Mac.

You'll need to find a PC to install it on...

  • ...or use Virtual PC.  I've done this with success on a PowerPC Mac.
