Emphasis Remote Virtual Facepanel

Hello-

I have 2 questions regarding the remote virtual facepanel for Emphasis. The first is the quick guide says that it does not provide any editing features for the system. Does this mean it only acts as a display? Is there ever any plans to make it act more like a designers remote for the system? The second question is that Cast has an educational version that makes mention that it does not have a subscription. Does the educational dongle provide full functionality with the Emphasis system?

The Remote Virtual Facepanel allows you to view and interact with your Emphasis or Obsession II Control System directly via a PC on the ETCNet2 Network. You can see console screens remotely and interact with the console directly via virtual keypads and faders. In essence, RVF combines the functions of a Remote Focus Unit (RFU) and an ETCNet2 Video Node on one PC with the added benefit of optional WYSIWYG visualization if a corresponding WYSIWYG file exists for your show. While the manual states that it does not work stand alone, it will work when connected to a system.

Remote Virtual Facepanel (RVF) is available as a patch to WYSIWYG. When loaded onto a PC (other than an Emphasis Server) and placed on the ETCNet2 network, RVF can connect to an Emphasis or Obsession® II control system. RVF requires a WYSIWYG™ dongle of any level (Report, Design or Perform). Visualization is available at the RVF PC if a WYSIWYG file is opened with the appropriate patch data. The level of visualization available at RVF is determined by the level of the WYSIWYG dongle. Is your dongle part of a learn system? If so you would can be in either Design or Report mode.
