SMPTE and Expression

While I know that the Expression can be running on Midi Show Control, I'm being told that some expressions can be triggered using SMPTE Time Code. Is there a knowledge based article on how to do this? Anybody done it?

The Expression console will have to have a "SMPTE Decoder" chip installed in it. I hear they are very expensive. I've always looked for them at set up(under the hood, away from you, near the middle, clearly labeled as such), but Hollywood studios & lighting shops 'RARELY' send them out.
