electric discharge kills console !

1.3.8.6 Build 956

after a electric discharge by touching one of the encoders the console immediately switches off the tft's including all kind of button related led's and after a short while the console starts flashing all choose buttons...

after switching the console off and on again seems to be running normal.

what has happen here ? can i expect this to happen at all electric discharge ?

    Never seen that... and we have lots of static electricity around here. You probably gave the console enough of a jolt to throw the front panel into a reset state. Not common by any means, and odds are you'll only see that with the most severe of static electricity discharges.

    A simple precautionary mechanism would be to touch the chassis (preferably one of the silver metal bolts) first before touching the encoders, especially on dry days with carpet. The chassis is grounded, but the encoder shafts are probably not, and this may be an unfortunate consequence of the shiny metal wheels.
