Downloading for Mac

Having recently had to download the latest version of software, I just wanted to let any fellow Mac users know the issues I've had. Basically, I found that If I clicked on the 'Download Clear Install' rather than holding down CTRL and selecting 'Download Link to Disk' in the Software downloads section, my Mac would download the file, and would appear as TAR, withouth the gz append (the icon is a crate). If I selected 'Download Link To Disk' I would get the correct disk image - that the console can read.

I am running OSX Panther (10.3.9), and as you may have gathered also have stuffit expander sitting in my dock.

  • Pryderi,

I've seen some cases where certain internet browsers will actually rename files when they are downloaded. I've usually run into this when there are multiple extensions (like .tar.gz) or unrecognized extensions (like .fpspkg). What usually happens is that the browser scans the file and gives it what it believes is an appropriate extension based on the file contents.

You should be able to just rename the file to correct the extension and it should still work.

The extension for Hog 3 full CD image downloads is .iso.
The extension for Hog 3 upgrade packages is .fpspkg.

    I hope this helps.
