I'm currently working on a brand new Hog3. Is it just me or are the keys, not only different, but respond better than my Hog3 of three years? I still have moments on my 3 when I'm typing in a command and rather than "124" entered in the command line, I get "12" or "24". I don't think it's me typing too fast because, like I said on this brand new console, I'm typing the same as I always do and so far, no problems. Any thoughts?
Hi Marty. Yes I did check this. They are identical. It's not just the timing though. They keys themselves feel different. Hard to explain. I just wasn't sure if FPS has changed anything over the past couple of years to improve the keys.
We did change the keys, silk screens on the keys, and the bump buttons as we were developing the Hog iPC (about 2 years ago). So yes you will see and feel a difference. In particular the bump buttons are much improved. Also if you look at the words, numbers, etc on all the keys you will see the text is larger and bolder.
That is a personal preference. The flash (bump) buttons to me make a big enough difference that I would consider upgrading, but I would probably not change the other keys. Upgrading would really require a new front panel (unless you want to do lots of soldering), so it is probably best to leave it as is. I don't think you use the flash keys as often as on rock tours, so I can't imagine going to the trouble.
I think 99% of my show is configured where I trigger cues using bump buttons. So much so that about every 2 months, I have to clean the edges where my dead skin  has accumulated. (YES gross) Had I not been using a hog with the new bump buttons, I would upgrade.
