Library Upgrade Problem

Good day. I have a show that was created with library version 4.0.96. I recently needed to add some new fixtures and went to do a merge with library version 4.0.263 on my console runnning V2.1.0 B1618. Since both being version 4 libraries, I thought this merge would be ok. When I tried to merge, I got a message saying that I was not able to because they were different library versions. Just to check, I tried this on Hog3PC running V2.1.0 B1618 and it worked just fine. Can anyone help as to why it won't work on the console? Thanks for the help

  • Are you trying to merge everything in from the new library? It may be a problem with just one of the fixtures. The first thing I'd try would be to just merge the fixtures that you need to use. If the merge worked with Hog 3PC, you should be able to just go ahead and use that show file.
  • Yes, when I merged all fixtures on Hog3PC, it worked fine. I'm going to try and merge just the fixtures I need first on the console. If that doesn't work I'll try the already merged file from the PC. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks.
  • Tom,
I think I've found the problem. When I went to merge the fixture library, the library was on the zip drive with a few other shows I had backed up to it. When I was selecting what show to merge, I waited this time and let the drive load up all the description and created date info before selecting it and pressing Next. This time it went without a hitch. It seems that if that info is not present when you select the library to merge, it doesn't recognize what version it is. Not sure this is a bug or just a minor inconvenience that can be overcome. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
  • That's a great find. I'm glad to hear that it's working for you and I will certainly take a look at this problem and see if I can reproduce it.

    Thanks.

That sounds about right..remember ZIPs don't have the same read/write speed as the HDD, so you just gotta give them a little more time for everything.:hogsign:
