Grouping/Buddying "presets"?

Hi there.. How about a way to store grouping/buddying settings?..

I very often find myself using some combinations of g/b setting over and over in a showsituation..So it could be nice to have a way to store those "presets"... I'm not shure how this could be implemented, but my initial idea was maybe to expand the Grouping toolbar with one more "row" in height, so those new "button's" that lives on that row could be "presets" for Grouping/Buddying, just like the View toolbar is today..

-I believe the recording could be as easy as just selecting the grouping/buddying you want, and hold record while pressing those new "buttons".. actually just like with views..

-And maybe that "empty" buttonslot between the buddying selector and close could be something like "preset" and will toggle open this new "row"..

Does this sound usefull to you guys? Or is it just me having too much spare time to come up with ideas that sounds good in my own head..

EDIT: maybe this new toolbar"row" can be undockable, so that we can choose to have it awaileable all the time..

  • Anders,

I usually find that I want to reset my grouping and buddying when my fixture selection changes. I would imagine that most of my groups would have grouping and buddying at 0, but that I would have some that only include grouping and buddying settings and a few that have groups of fixtures (like LED arrays) that have fixtures with selection orders and grouping and buddying.

I also think this would be a fairly simple implementation. If we wanted to get into masking grouping and buddying into specific items or selecting a group without applying the grouping and buddying settings, things could get much more complex.

Feel free to disagree. Let me know if you think there's a better way this could be handled or if you think there are any cases as an operator where this wouldn't suit your needs well.
