hog 2 pc not working with hog 3 widget

I couldn't get the hog 2 pc to communicate with the hog 3 widget, no lights on the widget would even come on. I then tried to install hog 3 on the laptop but that wouldn't work either. It's not my machine and I couldn't access install new hardware due to admin restrictions so I couldn't install the loopback adapter. Is there anything I need to due to make hog 2 work with the widget? Any tricks to get hog 3 working without the loopback adapter?

Any network connection will keep you from needing the loopback adaptor. So if you computer is connected to a wireless network or a hardwired network you will be able to use Hog 3. Were you using a good usb cable? Widgets are high power usb devices. Have you tried using a powered usb hub? Lots of laptops only have low power usb ports.

we wound up using another laptop with hog 2 on it, so the usb cable is ok...don't know if the usb on the first computer was low powered or not...I never realized that could be an issue.

If admin restrictions prevent you from using the loopback adapter, they may also block you from getting at the device drivers you need to run a widget. It will depend on how your sysadmin has it configured.
