Hog 3PC Setup

Hi, I'm am looking in to getting a Hog 3PC setup as i have tried the software which is great. The only problem is i can't afford the cost of a playback and programming wing which i would need to give input to the system.

I'm thinking on buying a touch screen laptop which i can control the virtual playbacks and the programmer and then use to small VGA screens for the two info windows.

What do you think about this, are there any better solutions? any third party solutions?

Thanks for any help.

David
  • Sounds OK. Keep an eye out for second hand wings though. My friend is also going to purchase a widget to use with his computer which has 3 external touchscreens, he says that 3PC works really well with it.

    Best Regards,
  • if you have a choice maybe price up a
laptop without a touchsceen and by
    an larger external touchscreen.
Check your specs and make sure the
    laptop or touchscreen laptop will
    work with hog PC.

  • David,

You might also take a look at our Hog 3PC USB keyboard as it will speed up your use of the keyboard shortcuts. It is the "budget" alternative for Hog 3PC input. Take a look here: www.highend.com/products/controllers/Hog3PC_CustomKeyboard.asp
  • Hi David
Check out my Hogbox system... - www.hogbox.dk - I use HP 12" touch for shows and conneth an ekstern ELO 17" for programing ... It works perfekt, and you got a "cheap" desk for "few" money...
  • hi, thanks for you quick replies!

i think that i will be going for a good stable laptop, 13" touch screen, DMX widget & playback wing.

thanks for you help, if you have any other ideas please post them.

  • I would actually buy a programming wing. Programming with a mouse and keyboard is hard... trust me. Then when you have a show, you can hire a playback wing (for about £50) for the show. You will find that using the programming wing will make your life easier. Then when you have more money... but the playback wing.

    David,

Instead of buying all the components, you should look at our Road Hog Wings that basically combine all of what you list above. You can get a programming or playback wing with 12" touchscreen and (optional) Super Widget. Then connect 1 USB and 1 monitor cable and you are running!

  • Thanks for all your replies!

I wanted to ask another question, so i'm not going to start another thread. I'm 16 and live in the UK, where can i get some more experience over the summer mainly in Wholehog or anything any one is offering? I can get to most places around the UK as i'm in the midlands.

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but any help is appreciated.

Also i must say how amazing the Wholehog application is, out of all the others it seems the best!

    Thanks

  • I prefer a 15" elo touch, better for bigger fingers. It's only a few dollars more expensive...

    Hi David,

I too am 16 and live in the north west. I advise you get in contact with Mark Leahy, Regional Sales Manager for Northern Europe. He is based in London. mark.leahy@barco.com

He will be able to tell you who has hogs and maybe put you in contact with somebody at a local hire company who is willing to let you sit in a corner and play. I advise getting alot of practise on H3PC, it is free after all. And if you are ever up in Liverpool and fancy a good Hog chat, let me know :)

    Best,
