The HogIII can be a bit picky about what drives it will accept. The only way to know for sure if a certain drive will work is to try it.
Also, some drives will work for loading and storing shows, but will fail when you try and boot from them to install new software. So if you do install a new drive, make sure you can boot from an ISO CD.
