IT'S POSSIBLE TO SET FADE TIME FOR NON INTENSITY PARAMETERS TO ZERO BY DEFAULT IN MARK CUES. I DON'T EXPLAIN ME WHAT IS THE UTILITY TO FADE PARAMETERS THAT DON'T SEE....:dunno:THANX
I think it's nice to have fade control of marking values for theater and studio applications where having parameters such as pan/tilt quickly whip around onstage in a 0s mark can be visually distracting to an audience as apposed to slower movement. Motor noise and other moving part noise is also something to consider when marking fixtures in a quiet environment as well.
But I agree that in rock shows and for most moving light applications a 0s mark time is desirable as you described.
I have always found that slow mark cues are an advantage when used with scrollers as there is nothing more annoying then hearing a scroller whiz from frame 1 to 16 in a quiete part of a play.
Also sometimes bar/truss swinging can be a problem when movers quickly switch to there new position, a slow mark time can sometimes stop or at least minimize this.
I have seen this happen on musicals where the lx bars are still swaying when the movers fade on again, doesn't look great!!
I have used long, slow fades for Mark Cues for a long time. Do a corporate show with a very expensive CEO on stage and you need to move things around...you'll find use for them real quick. :18::18::18:
I think what would help is the ability to set the mark time as a preference that way you can choose what time you want since alot of time it is the same for most of a show.
I agree...but since I don't use "Mark" cues per se, it's hard for me to jump into this one. I build all of my own and I don't rely on console-built MARK cues.
This way I always know how, when, why, etc. is going on with every lamp. It's just my thing since I came from the early days when you always had to build your own.
