It's definately not the switcher/mixer as I saw that. These DMX switchers comes in 2 models. 4 dmx universe and 8 dmx universe. The looks of it is like a DP but it's silver in color. It also has the A/B selector knob.
Doug Fleenor, XTBA, City Theatrical, Pathway, DMX Data Lynx, and others all make multi-universe switches.
Back in the very early days of HES and the LWR protocol (before the fixtures used DMX), HES produced some splitters and other data distribution equipment. It's possible that there was an AB switch then, but I've never seen one.
I have two Silver color DMX switchers A/B ,and multi switch. I dont know who it was made by , no writing on it , it look just like PD2000/8000. Imput/output uses 3pins. To me it looks like PD2/8000 ancestors , with knobs, and 3pins out/inputs.
There are several companys who build these switches. Arcus build them in the look of a DP2000 or DP8000.
Most of those switches are just passive switcher, so no electronic inside, just a switch with the corresponding number of contacts. Also the switcher from Arcus are build in this way (e.g. 4 Line switcher: 2 x 4 x 3 contacts for both inputs, 1 x 4 x 3 contacts for output)
I was fooled by the Arcus switchers and thought it was built by HES. At that moment, I was disappointed cos if HES were to produce these new switchers, that means I won't be able to have network backup features anytime soon.
I'm glad that HES is working on the network backup features and we will have it this year.
