Merging Shows

Hello,
I have a small problem, I hope some of you can help me with.
I have just changed the software in my H3 to ver. 3.1.5 (b2725), a full install just in case, having had a few crashes.
Anyway my problem is that I am using a old show, with a lot of cuelists, that
I would hate to loose. BUT in the new software and in the Fixture library I need the fixture for the new Vari Lite VLX.
My old show is V4.0.226 modified.
as the new fixture library is V4.1.54 I can see the problem,, But I hope there is a way around it.
any help would be appreciated

Could you open your old show without any problems in 3.1.5?
If yes, did you try to merge the new fixturelib-file? When merging new fixtures or updated revisions you wont loose any programming.

Yes I reloaded my old show without any problems. When that was done I tried to merge som VLX from the new fixture librery into that show, but that was not possible. the H3 just said it had an error reading from archive ??.
I think it must be something about the version that my old show was programmed in ??

I just tried to use change type. no good, the H3 didn´t gave me the option of using the new fixture library. ?? so I am still in the dark about this.

Hambro, if you continue to have trouble merging the library into the show file then please ulpoad the show file to me and I will get the VLX merged in for you.

I ended up having to get some development effort behind this issue. The merge is crashing becuase the showfile has at least 1 type without a corresponding typebody, which is a data integrity issue.

The good news is a fix has been checked into our system and I should be able to accomplish the merge with an internal test build of patch software tomorrow morning. Sorry for the trouble.

Sorry for the wait Hambro. We have resolved the bug internally and will release the bug fix as part of our upcoming 3.1.6 patch. In the meantime I have used the software internally to merge the VLX library into your show file and have linked to it below. You liking the VLX so far?

Thank you very much for your help. I have just now loaded the show into my desk, but
I could not find the VLX anywere, ???. Did you put the VLX library into the Vari Lite folder in fixture library ??
Yes I think the VLX looks powerful, and I like the nice pastel colors it can make compared to the more heavy colors from the VL500.

Ah yes, it looks like there is a problem with logging off and backing up where the merged fixture is not committed to the fixture schedule. I am looking at this with development right now.

This show file appears to have some integrity issues that are proving difficult to get past. Did you previously do a large library merge into this show?

I don't want mix things here or hijack the thread, but I made a little tests today (because my friend has problems merging shows)
I started a fresh show, patched 6 fixtures and made some palettes.
Then I made another fresh some which had a little more fixtures and palettes.
I tried to merge the smaller show and got that archive reading error too...
