New Laptop Suggestion

Hi Guys,

I recently had my old laptop die and it is much cheaper to buy a new one than try to resurrect the old one. Does anyone have any suggestions for a new one? I primarily use it with a single universe usb widget and with one wing, to do lighting for corporate shows. So the are not very intense shows, a couple of color blast 12's, some mac 250's and some conventionals.

All the new laptops now are coming with Windows 7 64 bit. So im kind of stuck. I know from reading here that support for 64 bit for usb devices are not here yet. But is it possiable to use Windows 7's, Windows XP Mode with Windows Virtual PC, available on Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. It allow you to run multiple Windows environments, such as Windows XP Mode, from your Windows 7 desktop. And it will use windows xp usb drivers. So can anyone tell me if this will work at all?

Having a laptop repaired can be quite expensive, but most common laptop problems are relatively easy to repair yourself, especially if it's a popular brand-name model. Figuring out how to disassemble a laptop can take a while, but most vendors publish service manuals that are quite helpful.

Give it a shot, even if you can't repair it, it's cool to see how laptops are built internally.
