merging/updating profiles in show

How do I merge/update new fixture profiles into an existing show?

I tried merging the new fixture library in, and it showed that it was a new revision, but once I finished the merge, the profile still did not work. I had to create a whole new show file to get the new profile to work correctly, it was still using the old version even after I merged in the new profile version to my show file.

Am I missing something?

    did you try to unpatch and repatch your fixtures?
    or try changetype and then change to your new version

    i am not sure, but i am off-site now, I need to set up a visualizer or something in order to see the dmx output and check if unpatching/repatching or changing type works. I will post another topic asking for help setting up a visualizer.

    When changing parameters in the fixture builder, I had to (at least) repatch the fixtures or (not quite sure) also use change type again.

    Thats why I was proposing these to try also for merged updated fixtures.

    Since I'm off-site I can't see the dmx output to see if it worked yet, I am going to try to set up a visualizer trial to see the dmx output, if I can't set that up today, I'll let you know if it works when I get on-site tomorrow.
