Fixture swap Mac2k to VL3k

The show is programmed with Mac 3k's - because we're using different vendors who only have Mac2ks or Fine Art 2k's - I replaced with Mac2k's & updated pallets - no problems.

One vendor has VL3k's - I remember having trouble swapping manufacturers in past. It was either strobe or shutters didn't quite translate.

What's the right way to make this as seamless as possible?

  • Easy simply make sure you have palettes made for all your looks.

    Then "Change Type" in Patch.

Go check/update your palettes and you're done. (Never hurts to run through your looks quickly and tweak as necessary as well).

Hog-3 is smart enough to know the differences between profiles (unlike most other desks), So Strobe will always be Strobe no matter where it lives in the DMX chart of the fixture. Same for Control functions. This is the big advantage of the abstract fixture profile model, and one of the huge advantages the Hog-3 has over every other desk.

    Hope this helps. :)
