patch layers

For those of us not familiar with the MA, could you elaborate on how this functionality works?

With an MA you can make multiple layers. For instance you can make a layer 'backtruss', 'floorlights','fronttruss.

This is easy when you have an big show, you just have to check where the lights hang.

Not exactly the same, but to do this on Hog-3 you would put the info in the Note column in Patch.
Then sort by Note to see fixtures by location.
