DP4000 + Hog III PC

Hi,
I'm wondering how interested users would be in a smaller version of the DP8000 that would perhaps output 1 hard line of DMX and 1 universes of Artnet or other configurations at a lower cost point than the DP8000?
I understand that you can use widgets in many different configurations but it seems a shame that you can have the current Hog III PC software that is free running on a PC but have to purchase a DP8000 to output artnet which is beyond the reach of many users especially those starting out or those who don't have the financial resources to make a big outlay.
I know it would be really useful in so many ways for installs, testing, media servers etc.
just wondering,

  • Hi Marty,
Agreed i think 1 universe of Artnet is more than enough.
I'm not going to link to any other console manufacturers directly but to the best of my knowledge Compulite,GLP & Chamysys offer free software that outputs Artnet directly at no cost.
Every company is different so i can't comment and would not have the information on how this reduces or increase sales of actual widgets/processors/consoles but all i do know is that in Europe Chamsys has taken a huge market share of the live touring Market over the last few years.
Again i don't makes consoles or create software so my knowledge on the positive and negative sides of implementing big changes is very limited but the real question is do you give out software with limited functional ability for free or not? and if you don't will people go to where the software is free and does work instead.
