Full Boar networking question

I am trying to network 2 - Full Boars.

I have followed directions from this pdf: www.consoletrainer.com/pdf/networking/Enabling_DHCP_server.pdf

I can't get them to connect, and I think part of the problem is that I am missing the RESCAN button.

I am running a different version of software from this tutorial, but shouldn't this button be there?

    Yes, they are running same software version.
    I am setting them to console 1 - Server, console 2 - client.
    Both consoles are on port 6600.

    After switching out all of my cables and switch for new ones, I am able to see the button to load show. But when I click it, the error: "Show Database Init Failure".

    I also noticed that the blue link light near the ethernet port is not lit up on my client desk.
