Road Hog Full Boar crashing

Recently I´ve expirienced some very unfortunate, and unexpected problems with two different Roadhog full boar consoles. Running the same show. Both are brand new.

The playback freezes and refuses to open the processes window so it can be restarted.
These freezes occur during tasks of various complexities.

Sometimes it works during many hours before freezing, sometimes only after a few minutes...

Most recently it stopped working during a show after a cue update. I was unable to open the processes window using the (pig)+(open)+(
I was only able to control the intensity of the cues already asserted in my playback masters. I was unable to assert or advance any cuelists. The programmer was still functional, the touch screens too.

XPe image 1.8.1
Software version 3.2.3

Let me know if you would like to have a look at the show file...

Thanks
  • Chris,

    Thanks for your reply.
My problems seems to be the same as Andrei, Marc and Shane...
I have to try without the use of the trackball in "Blue Mode".
I'll send you a report in a few days...
  • Thanx very much guys!! Love ya work :)
  • After a few weeks without the use of the trackball "blue mode" and the update to 3.2.5 a few days ago, I have to say that my problem disappear !!!

Thanks guys for your help !
  • I am having the same problem. Random crahes. It doesent have anything to do with the track ball or window presets as I have changed all of those in an attempt to resolve the problem.
I have found that it only happens during programming and saving.
I haven't had a problem during cue playback as of yet.
When it crashes I have touch screen control but no key control at all. Also no track ball.
This is REALLY frustrating as I have to red button reboot to which I come back without full control until I log off and log back in loading the current show. You all know how long it takes for this to reboot... twice

The trackball problem was not hardward, it was a software bug.
    Have you upgraded to 3.2.5?

Next time you crash try Pig+Open+Backspace and right click restart the process.
  • Thank you, I am on version 3.2.3 at the moment. I will update tomorrow after the show as I have not had the best of luck with updates...
As for Pig+Open+Backspace please read the post above. There is no key function at all...
Hopefully the update will solve the issue.
Thank you for your quick response
    Jim
  • Sounds like you are running into the same problem.
I bvelive that the upgrade should fix your problems.
  • Michael, I have done the upgrade and now I have no control over my DP 8000. ???
I tried the update as explained in the software reload guid with no luck at all.
The DP is on and all I have gotten out of it so far is blinking Hog-Net Link.
It looks as if it is taking the update but nothing after. the final command lines are as follows:
    I/O disconnected
    I/O connected

Then it begins to scroll text over and over again...
  • Okay, I had to do a USB bootable update. That worked and I now have the correct software on the DP 8000. Not sure why it wouldn't take it form the Hog???
    Anyhow, that fixed it!

    Jimmy Jam!
  • Are you connecting directly to the console for an update or going through a switch? Do you have DHCP turned on on the console and set to default addresses?

I've had similar issues and I've just defaulted to USB updates on my 8000s. Easier to deal with.
  • Road Hog Full Boar, DHCP, no switch, direct connect, etc...
Stick was the only thing to work.
