Hardware Fullboar Console

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade S/W/System restore some Full Boar Consoles for a client.
One of the consoles seems to have a flaky CD/DVD drive that cannot read
or write any Cd's/DVDs.The disc spins but the console cannot write backup files or read a system restore disc.
Am in the process of upgrading this console via USB to see if this might cure the problem.

My questions are

-Can a console become corrupted to a point that the CD drive does not respond?
-Is replacing the CD drive easy or does anyone have a link to a tech doc?
Are all CDr/DVD drives the same or am i looking for a specific part if i need a replacement.

Thanks C

  • Hi Chris,
Could you please do me a favour.
Would it be possible to check the Full Boar iso 1-8-1 USB version is indeed the 1-8-1 iso and not 1-8-0.
I have a console that has a broken CD drive and have downloaded the USB iso version 1-8-1 and can get the console to restore from USB but it only gives me the option for a partial restore to 1-8-0 despite the fact that it is 1-8-1?
see attachment of the iso file i'm using.

To add i am creating the bootable USB by using the option from the console and have created from a PC also but still end up with the same option of just a patial restore to 1-8-0.

    Regards C
