DMX in and control of other device

Hi,

I am thinking about the following setup:

- a PC with its own USB-DMX interface and software for manageing moving heads

- a Smartfade console for dimmers

I would like that the intensity channels of the DMX output of the PC to be dimmed by the smartfade main fader, so that I can fade to black or black out the whole lighting just using one fader. Can someone confirm this is feasible using the smartfade DMX IN ?

Regards,

Nicolas

  • Nicolas,

The DMX IN on the smartfade, when setup and assigned to a fader, will on dim ALL values that are coming in.  The smartfade can't know what each address is supposed to be.

A SmartFade ML would handle this all by itself.

Or using a product along the lines of LJ with a 2 port usb/dmx adapter, will let you use the faders on the Smartfade as Submaster/Channel faders for LJ...
