about receiving MSC messages

Hello

I'm using a SmartFade1248(V2.0)
I sent some  MSC messages from SmartFade(STACK) to midi softwear(PC)

It received correct messages(MSC & midi program change) without a problem
received contents are
C0 7D 00(midi program change)
F0 7F 7F 02 01 31 2E 30 F7(MSC)

Then I tried to send a message from midi softwear to SmartFade only MSC
F0 7F 7F 02 01 31 2E 30 F7(received data)

But it doesn't work

I tried one more with midi program change
C0 7D 00
F0 7F 7F 02 01 31 2E 30 F7

It works!
(In case of only MIDI program change is O.K. too)

I think cable&settings are correct

I tried to sent again other deviceID
But I do not get along well

I don't know why

I need to control SmartFade only MSC

thanks

  • I suspect you may have both General MIDI and MSC enabled together.  You should disable General MIDI:

Settings > MIDI > MIDI channel >  press enter (menu) to select the On/Off field and set to off.

Now only MSC will be transmitted and received.  Note that SmartFade offers a minimum set of MSC commands to operate the stack.  General MIDI offers more commands to run memories and change pages as well.  With MSC you can Run/Pause/GotoCue on the stack and that's all.
