I rented my Smartfade ML out to a school which was using it to control some moving heads right above the audience for a theatre production. They loved not needing to add setup cues by using the move dark function, but when adding effects they complained that the effects would start immediately after the previous cue finished. Obviously the shutters were closed, but they used an effect on pan & tilt, and didn't like the fixtures swinging around for 5 minutes before they hit the cue to open the shutter. I helped them turn off move dark for that cue and add a cue in between as a setup, but it'd be nice if there was another option.
Do effects really need to start early with move dark, or could they wait to start until the shutter starts to open? Just a suggestion I promised to pass along... Thanks!
