Is there a problem with the memory?

Hi There Users,

A while back, during our anual christmas production, we had a fault with our brand new smartfade ML. I was having a play with it and suddenly the desk switched off, then it would switch on up untill the stage when you can actually controll things (it would go through its start up sequence) and then switch off and startup again untill this point continuously. Our local suplies guy came and did a hard reset, and all was fine up untill last week when it did the same thing whilst plotting a GCSE drama preformance I lost my show.

Is there somthing wrong with the memory (curupt?) hardware in the desk itself or somthing, I really dont want this happening all the time! I'm not sure which version of software we are using on it currently, its the same one that came with the desk if that helps!

Any comments, sugestions or the likewise would be muchly apreciated.

Hi Tom,

could you check your power supply? Maybe there is loose connection inside that it causing a reset.

Do your power supply have a pop-out connector for your country? What is the letter on the tab of that pop-out connector?

A or M1, M2 ?

The power supply is a UK adapter. It seems to be ok, I was told that when it did this strange reset thing last that the memory had coruped, can this be changed or repared?

Does it boot into Test Mode?

Hold down the [Tick] button while turning on the console.

Pressing [Tick] will advance through the various console tests.

One of these tests is a Memory test so you can check if that is OK or not - note that doing the memory test will erase any show in the console.

Yes, doing a hard reset is the only way to get it out of this strange cycle. During all the pre load tests, everything seems to be fine and passes.

Thanks. That sounds like the data held in the internal memory managed to get corrupted somehow, so wiping it in Test Mode cleared the issue.

Which firmware version are you currently running?

We recently released v2.1.2 so I would recommend updating to that version if you haven't already as it contains a few bugfixes.

Hello, I had the same problem several times, always occurred during the cue record on the stack (REC HALL - STACK - YES). The problem occurred with the previous software 2.1.1. and the release actual 2.1.2.
