Problems finding or creating profile for 6 dmx channel LED

I have some MS Lighting LEDs that are similar to the American DJ PunchPro.  However, that profile does not work.  I've been going through the Smartfade ML personalities library searching for 6 channel profiles but have not found one that works.

In the MS Lighting user manual for the lights, it appears I need to create a personality that uses the DMX channels this way:

Ch. 1  Intensity

Ch. 2  Red

Ch. 3  Green

Ch. 4  Blue

Ch. 5  Strobe & color changer

Ch. 6  Strobe & color changer

Can I do this myself?  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

  • Couple of things to remember when creating user personalities:

    If you have Additive colour mixing (eg RGB LED fixtures), Home for the colours (Red, Green, Blue in this case) should be Full. (255 or 100%). This will make the fixture home to White. If you use 0 as the Home value, then they'll home to Black.

    Given the personality info you've indicated, you will probably need to select specific values for Home for address offsets 5 & 6, which should be given in the manual. A lot of LED fixtures have multiple modes for the RGB channels, and need the Strobe and/or Colour Mode attributes set to specific values to get normal RGB control of colour.

    Finally, if you send the manual to us we'll endeavour to add the fixture to a later release of the personality library.

    Thanks for your help. I have attached a scan of the manual. I have the new Smartfade ML manual for v.3, and discovered its instructions to create my own profile. I'm going to try, but if you guys could make a good one that'd be great. Thanks again. Dave
