USB

USB cable not connecting between console and laptop, when using Smartfade. Operating system Windows Vista. Any ideas.

    Please make sure that the versions of smartsoft and console software match. If you are not running matching software the two cannot communicate. The current version of smartfade software is 3.0.0 and is available for download here: http://www.etcconnect.com/product.downloads.aspx?ID=20014

    If you are running software version 3.0.0 you should not need to install any additional drivers for the smartfade. But with previous versions of the software you did need to manually update the drivers on your computer using drivers that downloaded automatically with the smartsoft download. (Drivers download to this file route: C:\Program Files\ETC\SmartSoft\Drivers)  There is an article about updating drivers available in this wiki: http://community.etcconnect.com/wikis/products/knowledgebase-smartfade-ml-unknown-device-drive-error.aspx

    I believe this article dscribes the process in Windows XP, so there may be some differences between it and Vista.
