I have tried to go through it's little introduction tour...but still it pops up EVERY time I enter the forums. Please make it stop...or tell me how to.

Hi Bruce,
You need to click through all of the tour tips until it offers the 
button. If you click the Later button, it will start a timer and remind you again after that time or the next time you visit.
If you have cookies disabled, you will always need to complete or dismiss the tour tips as those display settings are stored with the cookie.
