new posts / notification

i get a notification on the website (number in red circle next to the lightning flash at the top right hand corner). i click it and read the post. i click the ETC logo to go back to the forum's start page. in my new posts widget, the article i just visited is still marked unread...

    It is intended behaviour that is unexpected. The two items are divorced from each other in their tracking of read/unread items so reading using the Notifications widget (Lightning bolt) is like a preview mode and doesn't mark the item as read from the Forums Thread-List perspective.
