It does appear to have been a person individually spamming people. While there currently isn't a way to report direct messages, this person has been handled through the spam escalation process. 
 
You can control who is allowed to message you as a part of your settings ( community.etcconnect.com/.../settings) in the "Allow private messages from" section. 
 
If you ever have a message you'd like to report, you can also send me a message about it as well.
