Studio Color 250 randomness

Hey guys, I am new here, and I am mainly posting because of a problem I am having with a Studip Color 250 (I know they are discontinued). We have four of them in the youth facility at my church, and three of them function perfectly but the middle/stage left one has one little thing wrong. When I run the middle color wheel on the console (a GrandMA Light) instead of mixing to magenta and then inserting the red flag, the red flag comes up and then the unit mixes to magenta and back to white. In other words it is running in reverse. The console is set the same for all fixtures, and as far as I can tell the software is all set the same. I even took it apart to make sure everything was installed right on the inside.

Anyone have any ideas?

  • Mike,
Changing user modes is not really going to be the answer to your problem. User Modes just store different playback presets/scenes. Tom is correct that there were a couple revisions of this unit and that one revision had the color wheel spinning in the opposite direction. However, to fix this problem you need to go into the fixture's menu and in MODE set the TYPE to COLR Rev 1 or Rev 2. This will change the direction of the wheel movement. Once you do this restore defaults in your console and you should be good to go. Let us know if you need more help.
