Studio Command Strike

No, their union isnt going on strike. But I have a Studio Command that will not strike, even a brand new lamp. It homes, goes through all the progressions, but then gives me the lamp failed to strike error. Also, I have two of them plugged into the same 20A circuit. When I plug the one that wont strike into its normal circuit, it makes the other light plugged into that circuit (which is also the next in the daisy chain), reset and not strike. But when I plug it into a different circuit, it doesnt make the unit in that circuit reset and when I plug a different light into the original circuit the other unit (not the broken one) doesnt reset.

Any ideas?

Mike

PS Was that too confusing? :684:

  • [quote=Esoteric]First off all cable is 12/3. They are 110V.
That will be your problem for sure....especially during the in-rush that happens durning startup/strike. If you have a long cable run then your voltage may be dropping just enough to give you problems.

[quote=Esoteric]Second. How does a 700W fixture draw 10A? Are you talking about during strike only or for the whole time of operation?
No they will draw 10A constantly.....don't forget you have all kinds of other things in there that draw power...motors, fans, transformer, etc, etc.

Your boss should go back to whomever did the install and make them come back and do it properly b/c this is clearly wrong. Either that or get someone to run two additional lines of power.
