Now that High End has gotten rid of their 250 line I was wondering if there are any other mid range fixtures in the works. I am a small lighting business and usually work with small venues such as churches, schools, etc. So a showgun will not be coming my way any time soon. I love my studio spot 250's however seem to be forced to sell them becasue most rental houses are not stocking them cause they are getting old and can no longer be replaced. So if i ever need extras it's just not gonna happen. I now have some Studio Spot 575's which I like alot but there still something I like about that 250 for some reason. Anyway is the future of High End 575 and up and will there be any other types of fixtures coming out thats not $20,000 like the showgun?
Well actually I rather dump money into a 10 year old SS250 then go American Dj or Martin. I was doing my own lighting for a magic act at a party seperate from the DJ's lights at the party. I actually had the DJ try to compare the SS250's with his AMDJ 250's I couldn't help but laugh. I even am more amused by the so called lighting pros that say they never heard of High End Systems!!!
I'm with you, I feel hes has no love for us little guys and if we want a really good lights we stuck picking off the big guys hand me downs! (still better then amdj)
I still have ss and scol 250's in my rental stock. Why? Because AMDJ still sucks.:D I still stock 250 and technobeam parts as my clients still have the units and I work on them to keep'em in top shape. I even have one client who still has I beam-400's! HES gear might be old but it still works and looks good doing it. Keep them clean and they might out last even me.;)
i have had less problems with the 250 stuff than the newer stuff. I have some pics of some color pros that are melted on both sides (warehouse fire) but still running like new. The 575's didnt make it too well. I also have a Hog1000 that the front keys were all melted, but it still runs great, just looks like crap none little bit of american dj we had laying around made it.
[quote=jeeper]I just saw a few of the new strong tech's and it got me thinking why can't HES and strong work out a deal with the studio 250? STRONG's Technobeams are nice. A deal for the 250 spots and Trackspot would be great. Why a tracksopt? Still to this day the fastest and most reliable moving light ever made by anyone ever!:D:headbang::notworthy: Nothing even gets close!
