Studio 575

I have two questions.

First one, have a studio color 575, and the lamp will not strike. I can hear the ignitor trying to fire the lamp, and then it will stop. It has a brand new lamp, and also when I short out the two leads at HD100, normaly it will strike the lamp, but i hear the ticking for a few seconds and then nothing.

Second, a studio spot 575 wont strike. It doesnt make a sound like the lamp is trying to strike. both fuses on the LPS board are good. brand new lamp. I have swaped the LPS boards on another light, and it work just fine. So am I good to assume that the transformer or something else on that LPS is bad?

If the Lamp power supply has been tried in another fixture and it worked fine,
It must be the Ignitor card.
or a wiring harness problem.

I'd say the color has a bad LPS, and the spot has a bag ignitor.
Try swapping parts on them to see if you can get one working.

Usually no clicking sound means bad ignitor. Clicking with no strike usually means bad LPS

Note that both the LPS and the ignitor make clicking noises, narrowing where the noises are coming from can definitely help find the problem.
Therefore, no clicking almost always means bad LPS (Usually bad fuse)
but of course YMMV

Concider the age of the unit. It might be the lead wires and or the lamp socket have cracked and are leaking or going straight to ground. A leak can be detected in the dark (given a 10 min adjustment period for your eyes). The short usually happens at the lamp socket so have it hanging out where you can see it when you push the fire button.
