I had a fixture come back like this. The HMI lamps are cheaper so thats what this group purchased for the x-spots, i wasnt around so i didnt know about it. They work, i am wondering do i need to immediately swap the lamps out with msr's or will they be ok? Also i am not sure how well they will like being run at xtreme, since some of the lights are xtreme. I'd perfer to just leave them and then replace them with the proper lamps once they reach the end of their life.
I assume your warranty is already expired, But in any case, you are taking a risk, especially with the extreme's. I assume that lamp has never been tested in the thermal constraints of a Xspot, and definetly not tested at 850 watts. If one of those lamps fails, it may do damage to the reflector, heat shield, and maybe even some of the color mixing wheels. Your call, but I would swap them out, Joshua Wood
