cyber boards going boom

I have several cyber boards that are now going on their 3rd set of ssr's. I think the turbos are not as nice to these boards as the non turbos. I was wondering to help keep some of these traces on the boards from burning, i have a few with holes blown in them i may use to play with, could i just hook up two electronic relays (one for lamp other for cap) to get these nasty loads off the board to run the lamp rather than using ssrs? I know the relay would have to have a 5V control input in order to trigger the load. I am thinking a regular relay with a 5V coil may be too much of a current draw on the electronics.

Just an idea to throw across the table. Any tips on keeping these boards from burning would be great. I have been switching them over to screw terminals rather than the spade terminals. Along with replacing the SSR's for the cap and the lamp.

  • one thing i have noticed is it seems like the cyber turbos are much harder on the boards than the older cybers. I will pay closer attention to the board next time, but i dont recall seeing burn marks. I think part of my cyber board failure is they are all going on +10 years old and they are all upgraded to turbos. So far i have only had one or two boards fail twice, it is just getting annoying that it seems like at every show i have to swap out a power board. I am guessing its just their time to die. I would probably be better off just replacing all of the ssr's in the cybers. Also what do the ssrs on the other side of the board control? SC5 and 6
