I have several xspots that squeek and they are pretty annoying. I have isolated the noise down to the motor brake squeeking on the shaft. I have tried cleaning it really well and applying a thin layer of lubercant and it still squeeks.
yep, As xspots age they start to do this. The only permanent solution I have found is to replace the motor brake and tilt tube. Sometimes replacing one of of those 2 parts will fix it, but sometimes it takes both. But before you try that, you can remove the pan tube, and lightly clean it with a scotchbrite pad, against the direction that the motor brake turns. and also lightly rough up the motor brake as well. Sometimes that helps for a little while, but in my experience the noise usually comes back pretty soon.
