I have a universal controller that got unplugged and lost all the programs. Is that possible? Also the green display went out. The backlit text is still there though.
The universal controller has an internal battery that supplies power to retain show data when power is removed. That battery has a limited lifespan and needs to be replaced every few years. Given the age of the universal controller, it's a good idea to replace the battery regularly. An old battery can leak and permanently damage the motherboard.
The PCMCIA memory cards used for backup also have a battery in them that needs to be replaced periodically.
The LED and LCD controllers were before my time here at HES, but I believe it's internal and soldered on to the main circuit board. Give service a call and they can give you details and part numbers.
