X-Spot Gobo Wheel Position Errors

Hello,

I have a couple of X-Spots where the gobo wheels are coming up in the wrong places. Sometimes the wheel will be halfway between gobos, sometimes in the wrong gobo altogether. I can't repeat the errors so I'm certain it's not a cue'ing issue.

I've been told in the past that the cause for this is usually a dirty sensor for the wheel itself. I couldn't find anything in the manual about where the sensors are located, so I'm wondering if someone might be able to post a photo / diagram of what I need to look for to attempt a cleaning.

Thanks!

  • I read a post a while ago about X-Spot wheels being easy to damage by laying the fixture on its side, in part because the fixture housing is so thin and squishy, and because the wheels are so close to the housing on the inside of the fixture.

Is it possible that the gobo wheel shafts have been bent from doing this?

Laying the fixture on its side is almost unavoidable, especially with attaching or removing the clamps, so not sure how to avoid this if that post I remember from way back when is true.
