Studio Color 575 CMY motors

I've been doing maintenence on my rig the past couple of weeks, and have gone through replacing motors as needed for the CMY mixing in the studio colors:

The motors were part # 9270073

and replaced with part # 9270073LP

people have ensured me that they are interchangeable but now when I test them they home correctly but all the colors reach full when on the board they are at 75%
which made me think it may be a sensor issue but then I take all CMY at full and reset the fixture and it homes correctly.

it has to be the motors right? or do I have like 10 sensors out on my rig?

the fixtures are quite old and poorly maintained..(cruise ship industry...)

thank you,
  • The "LP" simply indicates that they are from LightParts, not that they are different. If the PN matches, I would be inclined to think it was sensors. If all else fails, give LightParts a call - they are, after all, the source of your motors . . .

And in the SColor, there are only a couple of sensors, with really, really, large apertures! If there is any binding, that can cause color wonkiness as well . . . are all the wheels running freely on their respective shafts?

And are other similar fixtures running OK on your board on the same address?

Not impossible to get an errant motor, but not that likely either . . . looking back through all revs of Studio Color, the motor part number has never changed . . .

  • The problem you describe is likely to be worn belts, or a failing sensor. email me don at lightparts dot com and we can do some more troubleshooting.
