Pixel mapping SolaPix 19

Hello,

TL;DR I want to use the pixel features on our new SolaPix 19. What's the best/way to do that?

Using Ion on Windows XP, updated to the most recent software version as of March 25 (3.15 or something?)

Our theatre recently got 6 SolaPix 19 (we are naming them after Henry the 8th's wives) and I want to use pixel map to create some effects/imagery.  At first I chose the MultiCell profile, I noticed I lost Pan and Tilt (Not sure if I lose any other attributes but that's the one I noticed). I tried creating a pixel map following the set up of the cells but it didn't look smooth.  Still didn't have pan and tilt anyways, even when I just go 175 enter then try to adjust pan and tilt.

I know how to create a pixel map.  I have done it with some of our lights that don't have pixel attributes e.g. ColorSource Par Jr.

Is there a way to create a non grid form of pixel map?

  • SolaPix is kind of unique in the world that it splits its control into three different "Modules" that you can use in different ways. We call them:
    "Base"
    "Flex"
    "Pixel"

You can individually enable or disable the Flex or Pixel Modules as you want, but I bet for the way you are using them, the best way will be to use the fixture in what we call "Base + Pixel". This will be the name of the Eos Library.

To active this mode on the fixture you will want to set the Base DMX address to be your start address for the library. You will also want to set:

    • "Flex" Module to Disable
    • "Pixel" module to Compound.

This will automatically nest the "Pixels" directly after the base fixture control, and is how your Eos Library is configured.

Remember, when selecting pixels you will need to use the "." to differentiate.

For example if your fixture is "1"

Typing "1" and going to color will select the color on the base channel, and ALSO all of the pixels.

Typing "1." will select the base channel color only.

Typing "1.1" will select the center pixel only, and "1.2, 1.3, 1.4, ..." will select each individual cell from there.
