CMA 1.5.0.2009 Crash on Vista

Tried installing CMA 1.5.0.2009 on 2 different Vista systems. CMA crashes immediately on both systems. Dot Net framework is all up to date and CMA 1.4.3.1789 works without issue. CMA 1.5 installs and works fine on my XP Pro system.

Here is the crash report from Vista:

  • Hi Henry,

This wouldn't happen to be a Tablet PC would it?
  • nope- both Vista systems I tried are just vanilla laptops. One is running Vista Ultimate SP1, the other Vista Home Premium SP1. Both machines have McAfee anti-virus/firewall-- I tried disabling firewall completely with no success. Both have nVidia discrete graphics.

Let me know if any other info would be helpful.

  • If you would try running this .Net to make certain it's got the right flavor in there... www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en

You also might try re-downloading and installing the client... We have seen a few weird cases of corrupted downloads before causing these types of issues.
  • Hey Scott-

Tried installing your link; installer program indicates that .NET framework is already installed by operating system and then terminates.

A check of .NET frameworks on machine show:

    1.0.3705
    1.1.4322
    2.0.50727
    3.0
    3.5

Running CMA 1.4.3.1789 and going to ABOUT shows .NET VERSION 2.0.50727.3074.

Tried clean download and install of CMA 1.5 and problem persists.

    thanks,

  • Hi Henry,

I actually stole Scott's laptop from him that is running Vista and I am seeing the same issue here. The strange thing is that my Vista desktop that I use to do all my testing runs the latest CMA just fine.

I am working on trying to figure out what's causing it and if there is a simple work around. I'll let you know anything I can ASAP.

    Thanks for your patience,
  • No worries, Matt. Let me know if you would like me to do any testing of the fix for you.

I won't tell Scott that you stole his laptop.

  • Matt...just be sure to change his desktop to Wizards of Winter and all will be good!
  • Hi Henry,

    Just a quick question:

Do you have Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista installed?

    Thanks,
  • Matt-

Yes. Both Vista installs I tried have Service Pack 1 installed.
