turn on power. fixture starts to go threw its motions at start up, then stops. I cant get it to do anything. Does not come up on CMA. LCD on fixture has the blue screen with writing. unfortunately cant make out what it says because location of fixture. have no motors to bring it down until I the stage hands bring it down.
From what you are describing the server in the DL.3 is having a blue-screen error. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do without actually getting to the fixture to do some troubleshooting.
Once you can get to the fixture, the first thing to try is re-imaging the fixture with the latest recovery image. It's available here:
www.flyingpig.com/phpscripts/recovery.php
If after imaging the fixture is still having issues, you most likely have some sort of computer hardware failure. If you have another computer available to swap some parts with, try swapping the hard drive first, then the video card. If neither of these work, the problem is most likely a motherboard issue at that point. If that is the case, the best course of action is contact our technical support department and they can help get you fixed up.
If you have any questions on doing any of the above steps please contact our support department at +1.800.890.8989 and they can help walk you through any of it.
In addition to what Matt said there is also a general resource page we have put together here: www.highend.com/support/digital_lighting/TroubleshootingServerCrashes.asp
I had this same problem about three months ago on another one of my DLs'. Just swapped the computer, all good. Now another one goes down, and they are both on the same power. Is there anything there I should look at? Or Is this something that is common with those fixtures.
I would say that this is uncommon for these fixtures in my experience.
Look to see what else is on your electrical service.....particularly anything with a large electric motor (HVAC units, refrigeration, laundry, etc, etc....) as these require an in-rush of power whenever they startup....also if you have long cable runs in addition to this you might have all sorts of power issues.
I had 4-Dl3's bluescreen in 6-months from lastyear. Then I was changed 4-harddisk drive. I believe not power issue. Because 2-DL3s broken in our warehouse. another 2-DL3s broken at TV studio and Theater. both case supplyed very clean power. I hope please clear this issue as soon as possible.
