CMA on a Mac via Parallels

I need some advice/help in regards to the CMA. I recently bought a MAC (yes finally - and it rocks) and have been having some weird issues uploading content to some DL2's using the Mac version of the CMA. I have a total of 4 fixtures - on two of them the content will upload just fine, but then on the other 2 it acts like it is going to upload the content, but then the upload status bar goes away and none of the content loads.

I also downloaded the CMA on the Windows (parallels) side and could not get it to even see the fixtures. I tried refreshing the servers, etc., but it never saw them.

I know that on the Mac side of the CMA, you need to set the IP address and subnet manually, but do you also need to change these settings when running the CMA on the Windows side?

Any advice on these above issues would be appreciated!
  • The Mac version sucks, better to stay with the Windows version.
You can set the IP manually on the mac side, just make sure the Parallels network settings is configured to share the Mac IP address. I don't have Parallels, but I can do it on VMware Fusion.
The best way to make everything play nice together is to use Bootcamp and boot the mac into Windows. For some reason or another I always have issues with any HES software running Windows virtually on a mac.
  • Also remember to make sure that your DLs and CMA are on the same version of software otherwise this can cause communication issues.
  • So Just as an update.....I changed the Paralells network settings, and the CMA is now working fine with the DL2s BUT I am getting a bunch of error and warning messages when I try to upload the content. (I realize that this is very likely caused by me screwing up the encoding or something). I still dont understand why the content will load into one fixture with no problems, and then the next two fixtures get all moody like my ex-wife!
